March Brown Dry (Triple Hackle)

A high floating dry fly for freestone streams, this March brown imitation utilizes three kinds of hackle: undersized badger hackle (body), grizzly-brown (support hackle), and reverse tied woodcock soft hackle in the front.

Amazing tie! Vlad.

I always in the search of some dry flies that DON"T need floatant dressing... I think I got it! This is it! Thanks for the posting, really love this pattern and I will try some soon!

Hey Mark,

I got some really small saddle feathers and they work great for the body of this fly.

I'm glad you like it-thanks!

Vlad

I have some saddle feather too...
I am thinking to buy a full cape (because of the whiting podcast in AFF)... this pattern really bring me to the mood of dryfly fishing! Might come out some questions for you later... I am a dryfly rookie : )

Well, dry fly fishing can be as addictive as nymph or wet fly. I know some guys who only fish dries, but I am not so extreme-I like it all!

Vlad,

Nice! lead me on to the right track...

I am kind of "reversed" from most of fly anglers... I learned dryfly fishing, then get stuck in the fascinating nymphing...I said "I love nymphing so much, if I can avoid dryfly fishing... I will..." :P

Just three weeks ago there were still opportunities to fish dries on some of the spring creeks in NE Iowa. Then the cold front came... :-(

My original plan was to catch trout on dries during the each month of the year. Jan/Feb would be the tough ones.
