Waspoodle

I played today with the Poodle fly style of tying and came up with this wasp imitation.

Waspoodle

Hook: curved shank
Abdomen: yellow dubbing ribbed with the black thread
Post and hackle: Orange antron with ginger/brown parachute hackle, front half clipped

Very nice!!! Vlad...
Love the simple wrap of wasp body... superb! Although I never encountered the wasp hatch... there was one time I fished a tiny mountain creek in snowbird, Utah. I pumped the fish and discover a lot of wasp just like this pattern... I guess I should prepare some of those patterns for the same trip this summer.

Thanks Mark! I also need to try wasp and bee imitations on the streams around here. They are very popular in the Southern Europe, especially for greyling, but trout too. I used to always carry bee imitations years ago...but sort of forgot about them.

A nice fat wasp could work as a summertime searching fly (instead of a beetle, or a hopper...)

Vlad...this is a great tie. That fly could certainly sting!

Thanks Cam!

Just got back from the nearest spring creek-it's great to be out... It is still pretty cold up here, but the fishing should just get better and better.
