A Day of Fishing the Cape (Fishless Photo Essay)

Last weekend I spent a day looking for stripers on the Cape Cod. Rainy and windy weather were remnants of distant hurricane activity, and I kept moving around looking for the best locations, covering beaches, estuaries, surf and flats... Unfortunately I did not find much of the bird and fish activity, and the single splash on a gurgler in a tidal creek was as close as I came to catching a fish this time... Nevertheless, it was a great day, and as it goes with fishing, there is always the next time!

Here is the panoramic view of Chapin beach in Dennis, during the low tide.

GREAT, though fishless, slide show. I especially liked the Glenlivet photo. Was the panoramic photo done with a lens change...or manipulated on the computer? I like that wrap around feel.

Glad you liked the pics... I used the basic 'photo stitch' software (came with my camera) to merge the shots of the beach-it is not perfect, but it works OK.

Thanks Mark! The Cape is really an incredible place, and I did expect better fishing, especially for this time of the year. Talked to other fishermen and everyone was complaining about slow shore fishing or possibly late fall. There was alot of bait everywhere, and it will explode, it is just a question of time. I wish I had another day or two...
