Cameron's Rod

I have just completed a rod for a friend of mine, Cameron Mortenson of The Fiberglass Manifesto. Cameron picked a very high quality S-glass blank from Mark Steffen, an 8 foot 8/9wt in a 3 piece configuration. We decided on a reddish color scheme and a combination of contemporary and retro aesthetics.

Wow... what a beautiful rod!!! Vlad,
This is really wonderful and awesome looking rod! I am jealous! I think the 8' is a great choice for 8/9 weight! Good punch, and still good feel... : ) I need to get one for myself for the stripers!

Thank you, Mark!

I hope Cameron will soon be able to test it on some redfish.

I agree with Blueangler. I'll do a build on one of those blanks as soon as I'm able. Sounds like a perfect light Striper rod with a kicker for Albies and Bonito!
Beautiful build!

Thanks JJP! The rod would work great for such a purpose. Also it would make a killer sight fishing or a kayak/boat rod.

However, for typical blindcasting/wading scenario where you'd fish the entire tide with minimum fatigue, I prefer graphite sticks.

Thank you Hitoshi. I just read about earthquake in Japan and hope that you and your family are OK.

All my best,

Thanks for the further heads up. I'm not much into blind casting. More into sight casting or mend and drift. This still excites me!
